Case Review Team (CRT)
The BSUSD Case Review Team (CRT) conducts Student Study Team (SST) Meetings with teachers and parents to assess a student's individual educational and/or social/emotional strengths and challenges.
The team then works with the homeroom teacher and parents to create an SST action plan. SST action plans typically focus on identifying and implementing: classroom interventions, educational strategies, school supports, and a progress monitoring timeline that best addresses a student's individual strengths and challenges.
The CRT meets meets weekly and is composed of the following staff & specialists to provide a variety of perspectives and expertise:

Learning Center (LC)
Our BSUSD Learning Center supports all our BSUSD students. Mechelle Cattell, Education Specialist, works with teachers, parents, staff, and students to fine tune services for all our students. Mechelle works closely with Katie O'Callaghan, paraeducator, to create a warm and welcoming environment in the LC where students feel safe to take risks and challenge themselves to exceed personal goals. The following are examples of BSUSD student supports.
504 Plan ~ is a plan developed to ensure that a child who has a disability identified under the law and is attending an elementary or secondary educational institution receives accommodations that will ensure their academic success and access to the learning environment.
Accommodation ~ A change to teaching or testing that removes barriers and provides equal access to learning. Unlike a modification, it doesn’t change what a child is learning. It changes how a child is learning. Academic expectations are not lowered.
Individualized Education Plan (IEP) ~ Is a plan developed to ensure that a child who has a disability identified under the law and is attending an elementary or secondary educational institution receives specialized instruction and related services.
Intervention ~ Targeted instruction to improve a specific skill. Interventions are based on a child’s needs. They supplement the general education program with evidence-based strategies.
Modification ~ Students who have IEP or 504 Plans may need changes to the curriculum they’re learning. These are called modifications. Students who receive modifications may cover less material or material that is less complex.
Special Education ~ Specially designed instruction, to meet the unique needs of a child with an identified disability.
Special Education Assessment ~ Provides the IEP team information that will be used to determine if your child has an eligible disability that would qualifies him/her for special education services.
