First day of in-person for 4th/5th Grade

Dear Bolinas Stinson School Families,

I am thrilled that today marks the first day back for in-person learning for Pre-K through 8th grade! We have been diligently working towards this milestone, and I am thankful for the hard work and dedication from so many different people to get us to this point. Last week grades 4th-6th returned for in-person learning, and this week our 7th & 8th graders are returning for in-person learning Tuesday-Wednesday.

Next week all grades will be in-person four days a week, Mondays - Thursdays, for three hours a day. The learning hub will be open on Fridays for participating students on both campuses. This schedule will continue through February. I will keep you posted on any schedule changes as we work towards expanding in-person learning for all students.

For more information, please use the parent resources button on bolinas-stinson.org to view the schedules for both campuses.  While you are visiting our BSUSD website, check out our new and improved format! We have been working hard to make our website easier to navigate and to provide more relevant information for our school community. If you have any ideas how to improve our website, please let me know!

Looking for a way to be involved in your child’s school?… Join the Bolinas Stinson School Site Council!

The ability to reopen our school for in-person learning was largely due to the robust collaboration between the staff, board, admin, parents, and community members. Please help us to keep this momentum going strong by joining the Bolinas Stinson School Site Council!

The School Site Council consists of equal parts staff (certificated and classified staff, and the school principal) and parents and community members. This makeup is designed to represent the diversity of stakeholders in our community, while promoting equity of voice to address important school programs and topics.

The overarching goal of the BSUSD School Site Council is to promote the success and wellness of all students. Some past projects of the School Site Council have been strengthening social-emotional learning; creating Bo-Stin Young Stewards of the Land; organizing and creating community events such as the Harvest Fair, Winter Festival, and Step-Up Day; and restarting the Room Parent program.

This year, the School Site Council will be focused on promoting both the physical and mental wellness of our school community (students, staff, families) as we navigate the challenges of COVID-19. The Site Council will also continue to work on developing more opportunities for outdoor education.

Some of the general responsibilities of the School Site Council include:  Reviewing the School safety Plan, and LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan), supporting the work of the Wellness Committee, English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) and other groups/programs that support student success and a healthy school climate.

The School Site Council will be meeting monthly on Thursdays at 4:00 PM via Zoom, starting on February 4th. Please let us know by January 27th if you'd like to participate.

Limited Bus Service for Families

Due to health and safety practices, our buses are only able to hold 10 students. For this reason, we are only able to offer bus service to students who most need it. We are currently providing this service for the Stinson Campus and expect to begin limited service for the Bolinas Campus on February 1st, 2021. Please contact Kara Perras at karap@bolinas-stinson.org if you have any questions.

Return to In-Person Learning Student Health & Safety Partnership Pledge

In order to foster the health & safety of all BSUSD students, staff, and families, we are asking our students to partner with us and take a pledge to follow health and hygiene practices while on campus. Teachers are talking with students to help them understand how important it is that they do their part as we work together to help our school community.  They will be taking the pledge to help create a safe environment for themselves and others by partnering with staff and observing the following health & hygiene practices. Please use this link to view the Return to In-Person Learning Student Health & Safety Partnership Pledge.

Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions,

Warmly,

Michelle Stephens
